Source Ububele has produced a short film about their Umdlezane – the first 1000 days programme. The programme concentrates on the very early emotional attachment between mother and baby. We thought we would share this with you, as it shows why the programme is so important.

Denis Goldberg Freedom Fighter and Humanist
A tribute in honour of Denis Goldberg, written by South African, British, German, Dutch and Swedish anti apartheid activists, friends and comrades who have known him during his remarkable life.
Denis Goldberg was one of those sentenced in 1964 to life imprisonment with Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu, Ahmed Kathrada and others.
The book charts his life through the eyes of others, from his early activism to his time in prison and the continued struggle to end apartheid and to bring about a free, just and fair South Africa after his release. This is a moving tribute to a man whose life has been dedicated to fight for his fellow human beings in South Africa and indeed across the world.
Contributors include: Ahmed Kathrada sentenced to life with Denis, Jeremy Cronin who was in prison with Denis, Hillary Hamburger who was Denis’s link to the outside world while in prison. Brian Filling the Chair of the Anti Apartheid Movement in Scotland and later ACTSA Scotland and others.
To Pre-order at a special rate of £9.95 + £3.35 p&p, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 07876 561643 by 31st of July 2014.
UNISON North West and Community H.E.A.R.T. present “An Audience with Denis Goldberg” on 13th October 2013 at 2.30 pm at the People’s History Museum Left Bank, Spinningfields, Manchester M3 3ER.
This is a rare opportunity to listen to the legendary anti-apartheid campaigner and freedom fighter. Denis Goldberg was the youngest of the Rivonia Trialists sentenced alongside Nelson Mandela to life imprisonment in 1964. He spent 22 years in an apartheid jail separated from his Trialist comrades because he was white. He continues to be an ardent campaigner for justice and equality for all not only in South Africa but across the world.
A brilliant political analyst, he is also a stimulating raconteur and truly great storyteller so this is an event not to be missed.
To book your ticket contact Isobel McVicar email@example.com or 07876 561643
Tickets are £10
Community H.E.A.R.T. would like to invite you to celebrate with us at “A Life for Freedom in South Africa”, events to celebrate the life of Denis Goldberg and his commitment to the struggle against apartheid and it’s legacy and his passion for a world based on freedom, equality and justice for all.
Denis, one of those sentenced to life imprisonment alongside Nelson Mandela at the Rivonia Trial, famously shouted after he and the others were sentenced to life imprisonment, “ Life, life to live”. In this, the year of his 80th birthday and some 49 years after being sentenced, we wish to celebrate his continuing commitment to freedom, equality and justice for all. The ultimate aim of the events will be to raise funds for project work in South Africa. Projects supported by Community H.E.A.R.T. range from small HIV/AIDS orphans projects to our book project, which has already provided 2.83 million children’s books to set up school libraries, and other education and health projects.
