The Puppeteers of Talking Hands, Grahamstown The Talking Hands Project
It is delightful to see children, and adults, who have never had access to materials and the idea of artistic self-expression being helped by trained art educators to discover their own talents. One such project is the Talking Hands Puppet Project in Grahamstown.

In the underdeveloped former Ciskei and Transkei Homelands The Talking Hands Project uses puppets to help school children to gain greater selfconfidence. Developed by young professional puppeteers the puppets are used to teach about Aids, Drug and Alchol abuse and about hygiene, dental care and many social issues. Teachers, parents and children are encouraged to write their own scripts and to make their own puppets.
