Mobile Library Arrives

Community H.E.A.R.T.'s mobile library received from the London Borough of Lewisham's Outreach Africa project has been delivered to Medlide, Medunsa Literacy for Development project, in good time for literacy week, the first week of March 1999.

Shipped to Medunsa with 10,000 books and magazines inside it, the mobile library will be used to facilitate adult literacy in a large area surrounding Medunsa, in Gauteng, Northern, Northwest and Mpumalanga Provinces.

Amazing library
Carina Marais of Medunsa Trust was responsible for arranging the customs clearance and delivery of the mobile library from Durban to Medunsa, northwest of Pretoria. She writes:

"I spent the morning at Medunsa and took a look at the mobile library which arrived yesterday. What can I say!? Thank you!!!

"I have never seen anything like it before and I am amazed at its size and capabilities. Mr Monaisa [Director of Medlide] is absolutely over the moon and astonished.

"The first week of March is declared as "adult literacy week" and Mr Monaisa wants to arrange a "launch" of the library during that week. That gives us enough time to invite officials from the Department of Education and the media etc.

"Thank you for making this all possible Denis, it is highly appreciated by Medlide and the library will no doubt have a positive influence on many underprivileged people's lives."
